The workshop on Cataract Quality Improvement Intensive Project (CatQIIP)-Mentor-Mentee Initiative, piloted by The Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Bangladesh is organized by the Nepal Eye Program-Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (NEP-TIO), Kathmandu, Nepal in partnership with FHF. The workshop is inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Sanduk Ruit, Executive director of NEP-TIO and highlighted valuable points on initiating the continuous quality improvement in cataract management that can become a masterpiece for future best practices. With the welcome remarks by Dr. Reeta Gurung, CEO of TIO, she emphasized the importance of CatQIIP to lead other parts of the world for cataract quality.
The objectives of the workshop are to establish a culture of quality, both internally and with partner hospitals; improve the performance of partner hospitals, by strengthening the patient cataract pathway to achieve improved and equitable clinical outcomes, productivity and efficiency.
There are 32 participants attending from all provincial eye hospitals of Nepal i.e. Ramlal Golchha Eye Hospital Foundation ; Shree Janaki Eye Hospital; Hetauda Community Eye Hospital; Himalayan Eye Hospital; Fatehbal Eye Hospital; Surkhet Eye Hospital; Geta Eye Hospital in the CatQIIP workshop.
