Prof. Dr. Sanduk Ruit today inaugurated a dedicated research clinic inside premises of Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology for Kathmandu Eye Study (KES).
KES is a cross-sectional study in which the burden of common ocular diseases will be estimated among people aged 40 years & older residing in Kathmandu district. The study participants (sample size or n= 5400) will be randomly enumerated and brought to the research clinic of TIO for a detailed eye examination. This study is jointly supported by The Fred Hollows Foundation, Himalayan Cataract Project, University Grant Commission Nepal, America Nepal Medical Foundation, and by a few local governments of Kathmandu district.
KES got approved by Nepal Health Research Council, Social Welfare Council, and District Development Committee Kathmandu. Field enumeration and listing of study participants were completed in 2019.
