The Neuro-Ophthalmology Clinic of Tilganga Institute Of Ophthalmology specializes in managing the ocular problems that originate from the nervous system rather than the eye itself. The Neuro-ophthalmology department has been established at Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology on 2011 and has been continually serving the patients since then. The Neuro-ophthalmology department deals with patients with a wide range of symptoms including vision loss, double vision, visual field defects, etc. We need to undergo a thorough examination in order to make a correct diagnosis and plan for further management of the patients with diseases that affect the optic nerve, eye movements, and neurological and systemic diseases that affect vision.
Commonly seen disorders that we come across frequently are optic neuritis, papilledema, Ischemic optic neuropathy, visual field defects (due to brain tumors, brain stroke, etc), different types of optic neuropathies (traumatic, toxic, nutritional, etc), cranial nerve palsies, myasthenia gravis, etc. Therefore, we often work in collaboration with other medical specialties such as neurologists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, endocrinologists, etc.
Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology is equipped with the advanced equipment which aid in the diagnosis of various neuro-ophthalmic disorders such as:
