Training on Operation of Ophthalmological Equipment in the Newly Established National Eye Hospital in Pyongyang

On the request of South East Asia Regional Office (SEARO) and World Health Organization (WHO) country office Nepal, Dr. Eli Pradhan (Medical Consultant, Retina Subspecialty) and Mr. Hari Vinwar (Biomedical Engineer) visited Pyongyang, DPRK to commission all the ophthalmological equipment and train on the usage of those equipment to the ophthalmologist and other medical personnel in newly established eye hospital on 3rd to 12th Feburary, 2017.
During that time, Dr. Eli Pradhan was mainly focused on the training of the ophthalmologist with lectures, tutorials and interpretation of the reports generated by those equipment whereas Mr. Hari Vinwar was mostly involved in installation and training on equipment operation and maintenance. The engineer developed standard operating procedure (SOP) for the equipment operation and maintenance.
After their visit, ophthalmologists Dr. Pak Won Myong, Dr. Sim Yong Min and engineer Mr. Kim Chol Mun from Pyongyang National Eye Hospital came to Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO) for the training on ophthalmological equipment usages and maintenance from 12th March to 6th April,2017.
